Re-Unite Rotterdam Slate Commits to Lower Taxes Now!

Re-Unite Rotterdam Slate Commits to Lower Taxes Now!
County Legislator Angelo Santabarbara leads effort for Independent Ballot Line in November Election

SCHENECTADY COUNTY - Schenectady County Legislator Angelo Santabarbara announced the creation of an Independent Ballot Line called "Lower Taxes Now!" for voters in Schenectady County’s District 4, which includes the Towns of Rotterdam, Princetown and Duanesburg. Joining him will be the “Re-Unite Rotterdam” Candidates, which include:

HARRY BUFFARDI – Candidate for Rotterdam Town Supervisor
WAYNE CALDER – Candidate for Re-Election to Rotterdam Town Board
MIKE VISCUSI - Candidate for Rotterdam Town Board
VINCENT ROMANO - Candidate for Rotterdam Superintendent of Highways
KEVIN MERCOGLAN - Candidate for Re-Election as Rotterdam Town Justice
ANTHONY JASENSKI SR. - Candidate for Re-Election to Schenectady County Legislature
MARK POWERS - Candidate for Schenectady County Family Court Judge

During his service as a County Legislator, Santabarbara has NEVER voted in favor of a property tax increase. Santabarbara cites the fact that he and County Legislator Jasenski voted for property tax REDUCTIONS in both 2010 and 2011, at a time when our residents most needed the help. “I had the honor to lower property taxes in both 2010 and 2011” said Jasenski. “In fact, the 2010 budget provided the largest property tax reduction Schenectady County had seen in 20 years,” he continued. “I made a commitment to the people of Rotterdam, Princetown and Duanesburg when I was elected in 2007 that I would work to lower taxes; I have kept that commitment, and if re-elected, I plan to continue fighting for the tax reductions our families so desperately need,” said Santabarbara.

“As sheriff, I always understood my responsibility to provide the residents of the County with the best service possible, while remaining cognizant of the affect my decisions would have on the budget,” said Buffardi. “I look forward to employing that experience to demand and ensure that each department in Rotterdam government provides the best possible service at the lowest possible cost to our residents,” he continued. “I have never voted to raise taxes and I don’t plan to start doing so now,” said Calder. “I understand that our families need help, because I have seen the affect out of control taxes have had on my family, I look forward to helping our families,” said Viscusi. “As I am running to oversee one of the biggest departments in the Town government, I know that my decisions can directly impact the taxpayers,” said Romano. “I look forward to rolling up my sleeves and going to work to ensure the quality and safety of our roads are kept at the level we have come to expect, and that we do it as efficient as possible,” said Romano.

To create "Lower Taxes Now!”, the “Re-Unite Rotterdam” team collected and filed almost 1,300 signatures from local residents. “This initiative demonstrates our commitment to government that delivers for the people and the support from our residents was overwhelming,” said Santabarbara.
