Marcella's Ground Breaking represents the largest investment in Downtown Schenectady in 20 years

"This is the biggest retail development in 20 years in downtown Schenectady and the tide has really turned," said Schenectady County Legislature Chairwoman Susan E. Savage to Capital News 9 at the recent ground breaking ceremony for Marcella and Son's appliance retailer.

At this site nine million dollars in new investment has already been committed for 110,000 square feet of new and renovated business space adding to the nearly three million square feet of space that has been created or renovated since the new Democratic Majority came into office in 2004. The unified economic development plan put in place by Democrats continues to pay dividends despite the hard economic times caused by the Bush Recession.
